Black Diamond Beach
Jim Picardi
Location:
Jokulsarlon, Iceland
Description:
On the south coast of Iceland several glaciers continuously calve into icebergs that float in Glacier Lagoon before going out to sea. Once at sea, the icebergs are broken up into smaller icebergs and then into small chunks of ice that wash up on a black sand beach. The ice chunks glitter like diamonds-hence the name Black Diamond Beach
