Leaping for Lunch
Thomas Loucks
Subject:
King Vulture jumps from perch
Location:
Costa Rica
Description:
King Vulture (actually a Central American condor) jumps from his rain-soaked perch to grab an easier meal without hunting - the Rancher who owned the finca was putting out lunch nearby.

Whereas this bird and nearby vultures are wild, the farmer feeding them meat is clearly the draw and controlling the opportunity for photographers to capture the moment.
