For the PC-challenged, here might be some helpful hints for getting Adobe Lightroom up and running on a new Windows 10 pc, if you are encountering issues as I did.

My old program was on a Windows 7 machine, and, when I tried to move the catalog backup, my new computer could not even see it, much less open it.

I went back and forth with a book by Scott Kelby and also some helpful emailing back and forth with Tim Grey. Here, after two days of struggling, is the the solution that took only minutes to implement.

At the end of the day, since my new W10 computer could not see the zipped catalog backup from W7's LR, much less open it, I returned to the W7 machine, easily unzipped the catalog on the original machine that created it, brought the unzipped catalog over to the new W10 machine, now I could see it, double clicked on it, and LR opened it. Voila, it synced to the old catalog and I am in business.

The solution was to unzip the zipped catalog backup file, using the old PC.
