The last presentation got me interested in going to Sisk-a-dee (Gunnison) https://www.siskadee.org/view.htm to look for grouse. Has anyone been there and could give an evaluation? Are there better locations for photography? The viewing closes May 10th.

Thanks Doug

Doug,
Interested in going with someone? I'd like to come along, depending upon the dates you pick.

Mike,
That sounds great! I'll call the ranger station down there, and see if they have any recommendations. I can be somewhat flexible, so let me talk with them and make several proposed dates. I was thinking driving down one afternoon, spending three nights in Gunnison, (assuming the viewing is worth it) and coming back home after the third morning. Again, I can be flexible.

The gunnison grouse are really cool but the viewing area is a long way off. You would need at least a 500 with extenders. Better to go to Walden. There is a lek there that is very close to the road. They are not gunnison sage grouse but greater sage grouse and to the novice you wont know the difference.
