Mile High Wildlife Photo Club

September 2011 Meeting Summary

< Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting > Our special guests for our September club meeting were the staff of Nature’s Educators, based in Aurora, Colorado. Those present enjoyed a different kind of experience from our standard format. Nature's Educators is an educational wildlife organization focusing on raptors, with a mission is to teach anyone and everyone about the importance of birds of prey. Their staff strives to get audiences excited to learn about wildlife. I believe they succeeded with MHWPC! – They brought along some of the raptors from their center for ‘photo shoot’ sessions! Members had opportunities prior to the meeting to photograph the birds in a controlled small group setting. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t completely cooperate and the photography had to be moved inside, a change from the original plan of using The Wildlife Experience’s grounds for backgrounds and settings. After the photo sessions, they presented a program in the classrooms area regarding their raptor rescue and rehabilitation programs, including answering questions from the members present.

After the program, we moved back to our regular theater location for the monthly competition, ably judged by our own Chuck Summers. < Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting >
