Mile High Wildlife Photo Club

May 2010 Meeting Summary

< Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting > Our May club meeting featured an exceptional and different program by Weldon Lee. Mr. Lee is a charter member of NANPA – the North American Nature Photography Association – and has published books on wildlife, including Rocky Mountain wildlife. His work has been published in a wide range of magazines and has been featured on television. The message conveyed in his presentation was the power of photography to change public opinion and people’s view of the world, and the ability for photographers of all abilities to use photography to reach others.

To quote Weldon’s website: “Unless we act now, many wildlife species face extinction during this century," proclaims Weldon. "Hopefully, others will feel the passion I have for our wild brothers and sisters and it will motivate them to become involved in wildlife preservation. Maybe, just maybe, my photography and writing will be the tipping point necessary to make that happen."

Mr. Lee encouraged those present to consider using their own photography towards goals of educating others and helping forming public opinion on issues important to the wildlife and nature photographer. After the program, Mr. Lee answered questions from the audience. This month’s competition was also judged by Mr. Lee.
