New Online Image Submission
Beginning with the February 2010 monthly competition, all images submitted to the MHWPC monthly competitions must be submitted online.
Prepare Your Images
The same Digital Image Submission Guidelines apply:
- Image size: up to 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high
- Color profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 – make sure to check "Embed Color Profile" in the file Save As dialogue box
- File format: JPEG with embedded color profile
but with the following two changes:
- File Name: The file name can be anything you want – it no longer has to be of the form "RitaSummers-RedFoxPortrait.jpg".
- Title: The Title can be anything you want – it no longer has to be descriptive.
Submit Your Images
To submit your images, Login using the link in the far upper right corner, then go to Members > Submit Monthly Competition Images.
You can submit your images, and make changes to your submission, at any time while the submission window is open.
New, additional information (Subject, Location, and Description), will be on the score sheet for the competition and will be read if the photographer is not there. The information will also be available on the online galleries if the image wins.

Submit Monthly Competition Images Help
The Submit Monthly Competition Images page is available from the Members navigation menu. (If you click on the link in this help description, then the Submit Monthly Competition Images page will open in a new window.)
There are entry forms for each photographer associated with the login account. If you do not see the correct photographer(s), go to your Manage Account page and click on Manage Photographers. (If you click on the links in this help description, then the Manage Photographers and Manage Account pages will open in a new window.)
If you would like to change the way the photographer's name is given, then go to your Manage Account page and click on Manage Photographers then click on Edit Photog. (If you click on the links in this help description, then the Manage Photographers and Manage Account pages will open in a new window.)
When you first go to the page each month, a blank submission form is shown for each photographer associated with the login account. After you submit images, those images are shown, and you are free to edit the information at any time before the submission window closes. You do not need to do anything to finalize your submission.
For each of the images you can enter per month, enter: - Category: Select the category for the image. Only the categories for that month are shown.
- Image: Select the file to upload. After an image is uploaded, the image and your file name will be shown too.
- Title: Enter a Title for the image. It can be descriptive or creative. The Title must fit within the input box without scrolling.
- Subject: (Optional) Enter a subject if it's not clear from the Title. For example, if an image of two black-tailed prairie dogs kissing is titled "Kissee Kissee," then enter "Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs" for the Subject.
- Location: (Optional) Enter a Location where the image was taken.
- Description: (Semi-Optional) Enter a short Description of the image so others can learn about how it was made. Include the story behind the shot and/or describe any special processing techniques. A Description is required for all images submitted to the Open category.
- Delete: If an image has been uploaded, you may delete it by clicking on the check box and then hitting the Submit button.
You do not need to do anything to finalize your submission. Each of your valid images will automatically be collected when the submission window closes.
All of the information entered for the image will be available: 1) on the score sheet for the competition and will be read if the photographer isn't there, and 2) on the online galleries if the image wins.
