Possible Aurora

Well, since my article on aurora photography in the December newsletter, the sun flatlined. But a new large sunspot in the center of the solar disk has sent a coronal mass ejection (CME) toward Earth. It is expected to hit on the 17th. Check spaceweather.com for details and the other resources I included in the article. The auroral oval has expanded quite a bit in the last day. If you are traveling north (or southern hemisphere polar regions), you'll of course have a better chance of seeing aurora.
